My husband is coming home from Iraq!!!?
Looking for ideas for the homecoming!! I also was wondering what all goes on when they land. Will we be able to see him right away or will it be awhile. Also Any ideas on stuff like banners, flags, And shirts for the baby??

give the baby a shirt that reads, "If you want to see me grow up refuse to go anymore"

I’m sure there is only one thing on his mind, so dont forget to "take care of him"

Tell him welcome home from me and tell him thanks for his service. First beer I have tonight will be for him.

At my redeployment, wives had banners made for their husbands at the ceremony. People decorated their cars and had banners and signs in the window welcoming home their soldier. I am sure anything that you do, he will appreciate. But one thing to have in the house and he will greatly appreciate (at least I did), is a 6-pack of beer. That is if he drinks. When you go without beer for so long; its nice to have a nice cold one when you get home. Glad he’s coming home and have a wonderful welcome home.

I Promise you…what ever you do, or even you simply say welcome home soldier…it will be more than enough when he is holding you…and the baby…in his arms.
Glad he mad it home safe..

idk about the other stuff but congrats!! my dad just came home a couple wks ago
) i wasnt able to see him until 3 days after though (not due to any of that, just i was on vacation and didnt know he was coming home)

I belong to a group that does things like welcome home troops (either individually or in a unit). We recently did a welcome home for the 159th out of Ft. Story here in Virginia Beach. If we are doing it for an individual, even if they are part of a unit, we meet them where they come in and escort them to their home. For example, if they fly into the local airport, we will meet them there and escort them with a motorcycle escort (flags flying etc) to their house. The furthest our local group has had to go was about 45 miles.
If you go to http://www.patriotguard.org, look for ‘to request our services’ in the left column, then click on STATE CAPTAINS, and look for your state. Scroll down until you find your state, then send an email to the person listed there. Tell him/her you’d like to set up a WELCOME HOME for your husband. He/she will contact you and get more info. Once he/she has the info, he/she will take it from there. It’s all FREE. The sooner you do this, the easier everything will be to work out. If you have any questions, feel free to email me. I’ve been a member since April of ’06.
