Who else here is very upset with NASCAR about the finish at Dega?

I am very upset.I think Regan should have won.It wasn’t fair.Contact NASCAR at fanfeedback@nascar.com and complain and tell them how you feel. This is what I wrote to them:
NASCAR,
I think you need to figure out your rules and get them straight because I am very very upset over how you handled the finish at Talladega. If you looked at the video of the finish, clearly Regan Smith was forced down below the yellow line by Tony Stewart. It wasn’t his choice. And no I am not a Tony Stewart hater so this is not the reason why I am complaining.I am complaining because I wish that someone would get their rules straight because if I recall, there was a Truck race last year at Daytona where there was a 3 truck finish at the line and Johnny Benson was aloud to go below the yellow line and inprove his position and he didn’t get in trouble for it.Regarding the situation and why Johnny Benson was not penalized,A NASCAR Spokesman,Owen Kearns said, and I quote,"if you can see the checkered flag on the last lap, anything goes."
So where do you really stand regarding that rule NASCAR?Please inform me.What is the exact rule here? Why don’t you make your rules public to the fans so we know what is going on and what is/isn’t allowed? Then maybe we would understand a little better.
Regan Smith clearly deserved to win that race and if he wasn’t allowed to go below the yellow line, then don’t let others do it too. It’s not fair.At least give him 2nd and don’t penalize him and put him to 18th.It was the last freakin lap…give me a break.
I have seen plenty of times, including the 07 Daytona 500, where it is a green white checkered finish,or the last lap and they start wrecking.Well the rule is that the race is supposed to end and whoever is in the lead when they start wrecking wins the race…You let them race to the end for the fans purpose. That’s not exactly sticking to the rules.I think you definitely stretch the rules a little when you want to.We all know that. You can’t hide that. And the only reason why you made it this way and scored Stewart as the winner is because Regan Smith is not a big name in NASCAR.Dale Sr got away with a lot of stuff in the past and guaranteed if Dale Jr was in Regan’s position today,we would all see a different winner right now.We trust you NASCAR to make it fair for everyone each weekend and we don’t apprecaite this.
So next time NASCAR stick with the rules for everybody and get it straight.Don’t play favorites.Or if your so confident that you made the right choice and that Regan clearly was in the wrong,THEN SHOW US THE RULES AND PROVE IT TO US.

What would you have done if you were Regan Smith racing today at Talladega?

Pretend for a moment you are regan smith on the final lap of today’s race. coming off of turn 4, you are right behind tony stewart. you had held back to make your move. you make it, and it’s a great one. you had juked him from up high to down low. you get position on tony underneath him with the momentum to pass him. but now, tony being as competitive as any other driver out on that race track, is coming down to not only block you, but cut you off and crash into you if you are still in that position. so here’s where you have to make your choice:

a) you hold your line and momentum, stay in the throttle, let tony crash into you, spinning him toward the inside wall near the exit of the pits. you will probably crash as well, more than likely taking out a number of cars, angering these drivers, their owners, and fans, not including tony and his legion of fans.

b) you do whatever you can to avoid making contact with tony, including going below the line and backing out of the throttle, forfeiting any chance of victory, and possibly falling out of 2nd place as well. i’m sure nascar would appreciate this move the most, as it takes all of the burden off of them, and handing it all to you. tony probably thinks he made the greatest move, and he greatly deserves the victory.

c) or finally, you do just what regan did today…what every racer on the nascar circuit would do. you just drove 499.9 freaking miles, and you tell me you are going to just throw the chance of your very first victory in the spring cup series away? and just because tony makes a competitive, but very reckless move. a racer is not a racer if he doesn’t make that move.

nascar got this all wrong this afternoon. i fully understand the reason for having the yellow line rule. but, has nascar ever penalized someone for pushing somebody below the yellow line? i don’t believe so. i recall nascar saying in one of their drivers’ meetings that they will do this when jeff gordon asked them about it. i heard andy petree saying in the broadcast that the yellow line rule is not in effect on the last lap. i do not believe this is entirely true, but i do recall a competition director or someone of that same level saying that if you can see the checkered flag, anything goes.

i have just gotten angry over the past several years over nascar’s inconsistency with some of their rules. that is the main reason for me writing this pretty darn long post. another one of these inconsistencies i am speaking of is in the 2007 daytona 500 when they didn’t throw the yellow flag when the wreck was well underway. they instead waited for harvick and martin to cross the start/finish line. yet, in the previous year at the fall race at talladega, nascar threw the caution for a wreck that was taking place in turn 3, well behind the leaders on the last lap, rather than letting them race back to the caution. this would have given them ample time to slow down (turn 1, turn 2, the entire freakin’ backstretch) before they got to where the wreck started after the race had concluded. i believe jeff gordon won that race and that brian vickers was the one who wrecked to bring out the caution.

nascar just needs to be far more consistent with their rulings, and i would love it if they would come out and explain more of the decisions that are made in their tower during some of these races. i know, sometimes i’ve seen mike helton come on tv and give some explanations, but that is something that i would love to see more. i feel really cheated on today’s race. and let me say, i am not a tony stewart-hater, i love what nascar has been, in general, since i was in the 2nd grade. it just seems sometimes nascar plays puppet-master a little too strongly.

Tony Stewart Fans…?

Well, when the checkered flag drops at Homestead, Tony Stewart will end a relationship that has lasted for about a decade with Joe Gibbs Racing, Greg Zipadelli, and the Home Depot. That being said, are you Stewart fans looking forward to his last race with JGR and his role as an owner next year or will you be sad that the relationship comes to an end this week?
Wow, I just noticed that I became a top contributor and I’ve only been on here for a like month. Interesting…

After Daytona & Dega, isn't it pretty obvious NASCAR doesn't follow their own green/white/checkered rules?

"If the caution flag comes out at any time during the green-white-checkered finish, the field would immediately be frozen, and the race would be over. Video evidence would be used in addition to scoring loops to determine the official order of finish."

No word that I can see about "being able to cross the start/finish line".

Mark Martin is too nice a guy to complain, but I don’t see Tony Stewart having that problem.
To clarify: Some people have claimed that the "field is frozen as long as you can cross the start/finish line".

Nowhere in the stated GWC rules is that stated — simply that the field is frozen. Dot. Period.

Will the Busch Series see the COT?

I haven’t noticed because I only saw the Busch Series once this season. It was the race at Talladega. It was such a sweet race where Bobby Labonte pushed Tony Stewart all the way close to the checkered flag then switched up and passed him at the last second for the win.
lol John Cena is cool bro but the wrong topic playa peace

Is having Kyle Busch behind you on last lap @ Daytona the kiss of death?

2007: Kyle Busch blows Mark Martin’s chance at a win by backing off and steering back and forth like crazy. He eventually causes a huge checkered flag wreck

2008: Behind TEAMMATE Tony Stewart KB again to push another driver to the win by backing off and going high/ low. Newman is pushed to victory by the other busch

Is having a maniac like Kyle Busch behind you on the last Daytona 500 lap the kiss of death??

Johnson was FASTER and do you have to admit he was Better?

I have read all the critics on yahoo answers.
Here is the real Deal.
It was over when Johnson outgunned, outsmarted and outmaneuvered Tony Stewart during a NASCAR version of the game “chicken” at 180-something mph down the thrilling stretch.

Oh, and you’ll find this surprising: Stewart wasn’t pleased in the aftermath. “Nobody likes to hit the wall. That’s pretty much a no-brainer, I think,” he said, sounding like his hero, A.J Foyt, when it comes to grumbling over tough losses. “I wish [Johnson] had of given me a little more room,” he said. And he went on to say that Johnson had the faster car and that he never kept his opponent from having room to race on the track.

Yeah, right. And neither Stewart nor Foyt would have done as much with the checkered flag nearly in sight.

To paraphrase Herman Edwards, YOU TRY TO WIN THE RACE.

That’s why Johnson is the only driver ever to finish in the top five in the standings during his opening five seasons. That’s why he won the title

What do you think of the Fan Reality Check?

Dragged A Jeff Gordon Beanie Around Lately?: A Reality Check
Holding a Pretty Wheel · Amy Henderson · Friday July 13, 2007

You know the guy (heck, maybe you ARE the guy). He parades around the track with the little Jeff Gordon doll in the noose dragging behind, just hoping someone will kick it around. He (or she) boos Tony Stewart vehemently during driver intros. He calls Jimmie Johnson all kinds of unprintable things that have nothing to do with his racing ability. He is pretty vocal about whether Jack Roush is well, a nice guy or not. He has already decided that he will no longer be a Junior fan because Junior is going to drive for Hendrick Motorsports.

There is a small but vocal group of race fans who seem to have more fun hating one driver or another than they do cheering for the drivers they do like. They appear to attend races with the singular goal of booing a driver (or a select group). In fact, they boo louder than they ever cheer-at least until the guy they were booing gets in a crash. If-heaven forbid!-the guy they were booing actually wins-they shower him with beer cans, many with a good portion of the beer still inside. At Indy last year when Johnson climbed from his car to retrieve the checkered flag he’d dropped-a few cans were aimed at him-no helmet, no car. Those people are race fans?

I’ll be the first to admit I don’t understand this mentality. Not that there aren’t drivers that I dislike strongly-there are-but I just don’t get the animosity. Not only could booing during driver introductions be the last thing a driver hears other than the roar of the motor and a grinding crash, but it seems to be missing the point. Many of the drivers who are routinely booed, including the late Dale Earnhardt, have said that the boos merely pump them up to compete (pretty sure the guy booing Kurt Busch isn’t trying to actually help him, but he just might be). In fact, Earnhardt said that he’d be more worried if the boos stopped-because that would mean people weren’t watching him. That’s right; to the drivers, silence hurts more than sound. The drivers who routinely get this treatment are also routinely winning races. Maybe the boos are fueled by jealousy. Hmmm…

Why someone would hate a driver so much it overshadows being a fan of someone, I have no idea. Nobody likes losing, but why does someone’s hard work and winning have to be a reason for outright meanness? Is disdain for someone’s car owner really a reason to wish him hurt (yes, I’ve heard that!)? There are drivers I don’t respect because of their on-track tactics, but I don’t understand the outright animosity for some, especially those who go out of their way to drive clean. There are car owners I don’t like, but I would never quit cheering for my drivers if they went to their organization thinking it was their best career and life option. It’s not like they ran off with your girlfriend, keyed your truck and killed your dog. (Incidentally that can be remedied, I hear, by playing country music backwards.) All they do is race, try to please their demanding sponsors and fans, and still try to have a personal life. That’s it.

Not only is the booing ridiculous, dead silence would send a much more effective message, but the wearing of derogatory t-shirts and dragging around miniature effigies is also. I mean, that stuff is expensive! Personally, I’d rather spend on an item in support of my driver than on a beanie, a t-shirt, and a piece of rope, all for some guy I don’t even like! Ditto spending time on Internet message boards slamming them. Wouldn’t that time be better spent on writing about how great their chosen driver is? Especially if their guy has haters of his own! What goes around, comes around, pal.

It kind of makes me worry about our society in general. When did being hurtful, in front of children no less, become not only apparently acceptable, but fun? Are we really so insecure in ourselves that we need to put other people down to feel better? Sure we’ve all made a remark about someone-but the fans I’m talking about do it not only in front of other fans and their children, but the drivers and their children. How do you think that driver’s wife and kids feel when he hits the wall, and before he can indicate that he is even okay, people are cheering his misfortune, not even knowing whether or not he’s been seriously injured. Some have even gone so far as to say to a driver’s family, “I wish he’d crash and burn” or the like. Is this what kind of people we’re bringing up today?

Seeing little children doing this is even worse. Children, as the saying goes, have to be taught to hate. And, judging by the scene in the stands, legions of them are being taught just that. That’s downright scary. This kind of behavior toward one person could easily blossom into a group of people and then what? Great parenting there. Aren’t we better than that? Aren’t we?

My advice to these bitter fans would be to be a decent example for the kids at the track. Cheer your guy loudly. Proudly display his merchandise, even drink a beer toast to his victory. But keep the boos, the derogatory comments, the little beanies and the beer cans to yourself. Remember who’s watching, and act like responsible adults. Love your driver, even if nobody else does. Just don’t hate mine or anyone else’s and have a little class and realize that he’s human, too. And so are those kids who are watching and learning by example-and who want to be real race fans when they grow up
I know it’s very long..but it’s well worth reading..hopefully it will ~sink in~ and change the way haters act.
CHEERING LOUDLY FOR YOUR DRIVER RULES !!!!!!
As much as I would like to take the ~credit~ for writing this article..I didn’t
I read it on frontstretch.com the writer is Amy Henderson. I thought it was fantastic and wanted to share with you guys and see what you thought of it.
