What do you think the odds are?
Darrell: "Here comes the 12 car! Stremme! Off of turn 4!"
LarryMac: "The 12 car is getting a run on the outside!"
Mike: "Checkered flag in the air, Menard moves up to block!"
Darrell: "That 98, he’s got it. He’s done it!"
Mike: "The season begins, and a storybook ending… Paul Menard comes across the line to win the Bud Shootout, and Yates Racing is going to Victory Lane!!"
Hey, I like the 12 and the 26. I would not mind either winning =)

Probably steep….but hey anything can happen at Daytona….that what makes it one of my favorite tracks….no one is a "shoe in" and anything can happen. So maybe just maybe the above just might happen.
Just an opinion as always.

Uhm lets make that 98 a 96 and that 12 a 26, and I say the possibilities are better
. In my dreams atleast.
But the real possibilities of that happening are slim to none. I dont see it happening at all. No offense, it would be nice though to see the drivers that people dont think are that good come up and win.

Very creative prediction! I’m not counting on it, but I suppose it’s possible. Paul Menard is very strong at plate tracks as well as Yates cars. I’m hoping Jeff Gordon gets his first win since October of ’07, but it would be real neat to see Menard win the Shootout if he has the chance. I like Paul; he’s a cool driver.

I wouldn’t mind Paul winning the Shoot Out, I’d be very happy with that. However my storybook ending would have Reed Sorenson winning:)

Yep. Then John Andretti gets loose as a goose and wrecks them both. That darned Andretti.

Go to any off-shore betting site, and they will give you the real odds… You can make bets on NASCAR, right on line..
IMHO…
While Daytona is a place for miracles, I doubt you’ll see that one just yet..
Could change later in the season though..

the odds are 1 in 35. It’s a restrictor plate race, just keep your car clean, put yourself in a good position and go for it with 10 to go.

Wait so you are putting David Stremme and Paul Menard 1st and 2nd, in that order. Well, the shootout will have 16 cars, times that by 2, you get 32, but with the factors like Johnson, Stewart, Earnhardt, VegasOdds Online say that will be a 1:512 chance. Longshot, but anything can happen! ; )

why would Menard winning be a storybook ending.

The odds of the scenario you mention actually materializing are not very good but a guy can dream anyway LOL I think it will be HMS or possibly Smoke in victory lane at the shootout. BTW, how many times can a guy have his dad buy points to ensure that he will make races? One of these days Paul will have to get thrown into the deep end on his own to see if he sinks or swims.

Anyone can win at Daytona if at the right place at the right time and with a little help.

It would be very good in a fantasy,, but I bet if it really did happen, Nascar
officials would try to find a way to over turn it like they did to Regan
Smith when he rightfully won Talladega last year.
