What happens to the retired flags flown above the Whitehouse?
Once the American flag flown above the Whitehouse is retired from use what happens to them? Is there a special place these historic flags are kept? Can these flags be viewed someplace?

They are not flown until they have to be retired. They are presented or awarded to politicos or deserving patriots etc.

Those flags change fast; one a minute, I think. Then they sell them.

First of all there is not just one flag flown over the white house….. there are literally hundreds flown every month…. you can purchase a flag that has flown over the White House…. A detail goes up periodically and flies dozens of flags for a few minutes and then sells them in the White House gift shop….
Other historic flags…. such as the one Sir Francis Scott Key wrote about are on display at the nations "museum (Smithsonian Institute Museum) where the gift shop is located.
