why did they remove the figure of superman from the top of the ride at six flags magic mountain?

Does anyone know why did they remove the figure of superman from the top of the ride at six flags magic mountain in California? this is superman the escape.

From what I hear they took him down to refurbish the ride. he supposed to be put back up pretty soon though.

I heard he flew away to fight Lex Luthor. You know the media though.. they might just be sensationalizing again……
